USB650 – low-cost training spectrometer

Our USB650 spectrometer is a low-cost and small CCD spectrometer which is very well suited for trainings as well as for budget limited educational and research laboratories. It covers wavelengths of 350 up to 1000 nm using a CCD detector with 650 activated pixels. The spectrometer is set-up with a 25 µm input slit and therewith reaches optical resolutions of 2 nm (FWHM). Hence, it is applicable for various VIS applications.
The software Software SpectraSuite is already included in delivery.


Application: Transmission measurement at cuvettes within a spectral range of 350-900nm - USB650-CUV
  • ruggedized measurement system – no fiber optics needed

  • application example: measurement of color changes, measurement of concentration using Lambert-Beer’s law

Application: Emission measurement – USB650-E

  • application example: comparison of light sources (e.g. fluorescent tube vs. light bulb), spectral analysis of sunlight


Application: Reflection measurement at solids – USB650-R
  • measuring diffuse or direct reflections using fiber optic probes
  • 6 illumination fibers placed around the detection fiber
  • stainless steel measuring dip with a diameter of 6,35mm
  • application example: measurements at leaves, color determination at solids
